Kansas Heart Hospital Receives Medicare’s Highest Hospitals Award
Posted In: Community
On Thursday, July 28th, Kansas Heart Hospital received an email from Press-Ganey, a well-respected national trade organization which collects and transmits clinical hospital information and data to the national Medicare program. CMS, i.e., Medicare, in turn, processes that data in order to rank, recognize and inform the general public through their national website.
Recently, Medicare has adopted a new Overall Hospital Quality Star Rating system which ranks Medicare participating hospitals in the US from a top rating of FIVE STARS to its lowest level of ONE STAR. The email received from Press Ganey is quoted below:
“I wanted to reach out regarding the news about Kansas Heart Hospital! I am not sure if everyone has seen the article published in Becker’s Review but CMS has released which hospitals have come out on top as far as star ratings. There are 102 hospitals on the list that have received CMS’ new Overall Hospital Quality Star Rating and Kansas Heart Hospital is number 88! Receiving a five star rating, which comes from a combination of over 60 separate measures, is truly a tremendous accomplishment and something to be really proud of.”
Upon hearing the news, President and Chairman, Greg Duick M.D. commented that “Medicare’s ranking is truly important and significant since Medicare is the most trusted health care agency in the US. Additionally, our outstanding ranking is a testimony to our nurses, healthcare employees, support staff and physicians who provide our patients and their families the very best in quality and service and have been doing so since our opening in February, 1999.”
Dr. Thomas Ashcom, CEO of Kansas Heart Hospital since 2003, further emphasized “as a practicing cardiologist and hospital executive, I personally witness on a daily basis the care given by our staff and doctors, our outstanding clinical outcomes and it is refreshing that Medicare, too, has now acknowledged what I and others have known for a long time.”
Congratulations, Kansas Heart Hospital!!!!!
