FOOTBALL FRIDAY’S COFFEE TASTE CHALLENGE
Posted In: Uncategorized
Last fall, 2013 was the inaugural football Friday at Kansas Heart Hospital. Employees wishing to participate this year and wear their favorite teams’ high school, college or pro jerseys, could do so by contributing $5.00 to a great cause. This year all proceeds are being donated to Communities-In-Schools and will benefit students at West High School in Wichita, Kansas.
Joyce Heismeyer, COO, said, “Employees at KHH really enjoy the opportunity to dress-up in their teams’ sport outfits. Also, it provides smiles for patients and their families while benefiting a great cause…local high school students.”
This year Prairie Fire Coffee and Roasters’ local Wichita branch office provided the first KHH coffee taste challenge. Participants drank samples of three different blended varieties and this year’s winner was an Ethiopian blend. One of the participants was a family member whose husband is a current patient at KHH; she received a free food certificate to be redeemed at KHH’s boutique restaurant, the Heart Rock Café. Ben Hedges, manager of Respiratory Therapy, coordinated the activities. “I just thought it would be fun to taste different coffees and see if we might change our current brand for the coming year.” KHH purchases their coffee from Prairie Fire through their food vendor, Latour Management, who oversees the hospital’s food service. Ben’s idea was a good one……there will be a new coffee served soon at KHH!
