15th Annual Kansas Heart Hospital Golf Tournament…..Swingin’ For A Cause
Posted In: Uncategorized
The Wichita Country Club once again provided the venue for the 15th Annual KHH Golf Tournament held on Saturday, September 6th, 2014. In the weeks following up to the annual tournament questions abounded as to whether or not WCC would be “ready for play” by the tournament’s date. Over the summer, WCC underwent a restoration process to convert fairway rough to Bermuda grass which, simply, hadn’t matured by tourney time. However, good fortune and outstanding weather prevailed making tournament day an outstanding experience for everyone.
Five flights of golfers signed-up and played a four-person, “best ball,” scramble format. The eventual winners were the team of Missy Donaldson, a second time winner, Dr. Jerry Cohlmia, retired nephrologist, and fourth year University of Kansas medical student, Joe Moore. After play finished everyone was treated to an outstanding outdoor dinner buffet catered by the Wichita Country Club’s staff.
A note of thanks goes to the KHH golf planning committee, namely, Doug Milfeld MD, Steve Smith, CFO, and Vic King RN who, once again, secured the venue and coordinated the day’s event. A very special “thank-you” goes out to the Kansas Heart Hospital employee / volunteers who assisted and made certain things ran smoothly: Dana Minson, certified cath lab tech, ICU nurses, Deb Wilson and Jane Vanskike, and Taylor Diefenderfer, business office.
Similar to the past fourteen years, net proceeds from this year’s tournament, are being donated to the local Sedgwick County Heart Association chapter.
