For the past fourteen years the Wichita Country Club, located in east Wichita, has served as the venue for the annual Kansas Heart Hospital Golf Tournament which was held on Saturday, August 17th, 2013. Seven flights of golfers participated in the four-person scramble event on an unseasonably cool, yet mild, and sunny afternoon. Kansas Heart Hospital tournament volunteers, Nancy Miller, RN, Dana Minson, RT, and Joyce Heismeyer, COO, registered golfers and took pictures. Barb Denison, RN, and Jane VanSkike, RN were recognized for their efforts as managers of the mobile food and beverage cart which was most appreciated by all the golfers. Also recognized were tournament organizers, Vic King, RN, Dr. Doug Milfeld, Steve Smith, CFO, and Taylor Diefenderfer, administrative assistant, and supporting businesses.
This year’s first place winner was the Great Plains Health Alliance team which included Mike Hand, Tom Hand, Joe Hand and Brandon Wells.
Following an afternoon of golf, an early evening outdoor barbeque and award’s ceremony was held poolside. Participant, Dr. Jerry Cohlmia commented, “I really enjoyed playing with other members of our team” and fellow golfer, Mary Spitzenberger, RN, added, “The weather couldn’t have been more perfect!”
All proceeds benefit the Midwest Chapter of the American Heart Association, Wichita, Kansas.
