Posted In: Employees Out & About
Margaret began her KHH employment as a payroll specialist on January 4th, 1999 and prior to her KHH employment she worked in the payroll department at a local hospital’s subsidiary facility. She has been involved in numerous charitable and service organizations including the Junior League of Wichita, Wichita Habitat for Humanity, Wichita Youth Home, and Ballet Wichita as well as being a regular Red Cross blood donor. Her most focused efforts over the past ten years has centered on Big Brothers & Big Sisters which has a local and statewide chapter as well as national roots and focuses on mentoring youth between the ages of 6 through 18 years of age. She has not only been a Big Sister but serves on the Board of Advisors for Sedgwick County, the state Quality Assurance Committee for Kansas Big Brothers & Big Sisters and is Chairman of the Operations Committee.
When asked what has been her biggest surprise in working with at-risk youth over the years, she replied without hesitation, “Mentoring young kids just one hour per week has a tremendous positive effect in reducing substance abuse, truancy and improving graduation rates.” She states the greatest need of Big Brothers & Big Sisters is “the need for more male mentors.”
