On Wednesday evening, May 2, 2012, 105 Kansas Heart Hospital employees, family members and friends gathered in downtown Wichita to participate in the 2012 Greater Wichita Heart Walk & Wesley 5K Run. The purpose of the event is to raise money to fund lifesaving research and education efforts.
As a group, KHH raised over $11,000.00 for the American Heart Association. Money was raised through personal donations, Wear Red Day, t-shirt sales, an annual golf tournament and a jewelry sale held at the hospital.
This year’s event offered a 5K run which several KHH employees participated in. The top finishers for KHH were Brent Hanson, Dan Schneweis and Deb Sikes. Several KHH runners received ribbons for finishing at the top of their age group including Deb Sikes (1st), Karen Ternes (2nd), Susan Bradford (3rd) and Joyce Heismeyer (3rd). KHH also received a 3rd Place Company Participation Award.
KHH sponsored a booth inside Century II where participants could have their blood pressure checked and complementary KHH bags were distributed.
