Maeanna began her KHH career in September, 2005 as a Telemetry nurse and commutes to the hospital from Burrton, Kansas. Her husband owns and operates Regier Construction Company which he started twenty-five years ago. Approximately five years ago, Maeanna began volunteering as an RN at the Harvey County Homeless Shelter located in Newton, Kansas. The Homeless Shelter was founded by thirty church organizations in the Newton area, is non-denominational and provides evening residency for 26-30 persons as well as warm dinners, morning breakfasts and sandwich lunches. “It is a transitional program which helps individuals obtain work, a GED diploma, regular housing and healthcare including mental healthcare,” said Maeanna.

She also commented that “I find it most rewarding when we have our monthly dinners to honor former residents and you see how the shelter has helped folks get back on their feet.” For further information concerning the Harvey County Homeless Shelter you can visit their website: www.hchs-ks.com.
