Kansas Heart Hospital has been a partner with the Sedgwick County Heart Association since its opening in 1999 and has been a lead sponsor and contributor to the annual Heart Ball every year since 1999. Monies raised during this signature, black-tie event help fight the battle against heart disease through education and research. Also Kansas Heart Hospital supports the annual Sedgwick County Heart Association’s Heart Walk held each spring. Beginning in 2009 CPR Saturday has been hosted yearly by Kansas Heart Hospital for the general public in order to increase public awareness of the warning signs and symptoms of a heart attack and CPR’s life saving role. In 1999, Kansas Heart Hospital initiated the Sweetheart program for sophomore high school girls in order to educate, promote and develop a commitment to service, education and responsibility. Peggy Duick started the program in conjunction with the Sedgwick County Heart Association and the highlight of the program is the presentation of twenty high school girls with their fathers at the Heart Gala each year.
